The Australian War Memorial - Centenary of the First World War

by Macquarie Educational Tours News Destination Canberra

From 2014, the world will be commemorating 100 years since the start of the First World War. As part of the ANZAC Centenary, the Australian War Memorial is redeveloping their First World War galleries.

‘The new galleries will explore why Australia joined the war and who we were in 1914. The galleries will also take on a chronological approach to the display of events and feature collection items collected over the past 100 years, many of which are on display for the first time.’

It is planned to open the new galleries to the public in late 2014, prior to an official launch in February 2015.

A visit to the Australian War Memorial is a great way for your students to experience and learn about the importance of commemorating important events in our Australian history.

The Australian Memorial is going to be a very popular venue for school groups in 2015 as it marks the 100 year anniversary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli. Now is a great time to get organised early and book your 2015 Canberra Excursion with us.
