Our History

Our Story

Greg Turton together with his wife Heidi had a unique combination of personality, experience and skills enabling them to establish a business specifically servicing schools and which has now grown into a successful SME.

Originally coming from a trade background, Greg also has years of experience as a long distance tour coach driver, managing tours right across Australia and often through remote areas. In fact, he took the first ever coach tour down the Gun Barrel Highway back in the late 1970’s. Greg went on to study accountancy and small business management and has owned several successful businesses, before establishing what is today, Macquarie Educational Tours.

Greg understood the coach industry and saw the need for schools to receive the same level of service as that given to public tours and corporate clients.

Heidi has partnered with Greg in several businesses prior to Macquarie Educational Tours and with a background in office management, an enthusiastic personality, good communication skills and a love for customer service, Heidi connected with school teachers and was able to deliver excursion packages which met their specific needs.

As the business has grown, Greg and Heidi have successfully been able to transfer their industry knowledge and experience to their growing staff team, so that Macquarie Educational Tours continues to provide well researched, thoroughly organised, outcome focused excursions conducted by friendly coach drivers!

Macquarie Educational Tours now provides excursion services, including land and air travel, to schools across Australia. We are continually researching new destinations and programs to suit the Australian Curriculum. We look forward to the opportunity of meeting new teachers and working with new schools to provide excellent excursion experiences for you and your students.

A note from Greg and Heidi

“It’s sixteen years since Greg and I began our fledgling travel company in our lounge-room at home, while our two children were still in infants and primary school. In many ways the three of them – our two daughters and our business – grew up together!

Over the last fifteen years at Macquarie Educational Tours, we’ve refined our systems, employed and trained more staff and expanded our services to every state and territory in Australia.

The feedback that we regularly receive from teachers is testimony to our commitment to providing excellent excursion experiences. We look forward to helping you with your next excursion.

Kind regards, Greg & Heidi”
